Home-roasted coffee shop Kita Kouboh
平成元年に自家焙煎珈琲店「北工房」をOPENしました
We hope that the memories of this shop will remain in your heart like the red barley grown on the Biei hills.
This coffee shop opened in 1989, with coffee roasted in-house. Biei was an agricultural town with about 12,000 inhabitants then, and became known for its scenery thanks to photographer Maeda Shinzo. Since then, Biei has been a popular sightseeing town. To contribute to the development of Biei and to help out local farmers with our limited means, we decided that a coffee shop would be a fitting addition to the town.
Inspired by coffee substitution used in the past, we carefully select one from several types of soybeans to match the coffee, and obtain them from contract farming. The blend made from this soybean and coffee beans (ratio 1:1), is the soybean-coffee blend (the taste of the hills).
Come visit us and give it a try!
